Anil Vij is a senior BJP leader and is the party’s candidate from the Ambala Cantt constituency in Haryana Assembly elections 2024. He is also the former home minister of Haryana. Vij has remained in headlines with his reported claims for the post of the Haryana CM. Vij had won the Ambala Cantt seat in 2009, 2014 and 2019 on the BJP ticket. In 1991, he lost the seat as a BJP candidate and fought again in 1996 and 2000 as an Independent candidate, winning both elections. He 2005, he lost the seat to Congress and returned to the BJP to fight the elections after that.
